Relationships are terrible

Throughout the four years teenagers spend in high school, relationships are one of many things on their minds. Relationships have either a positive or negative effect on a student’s life. On one hand, relationships are nice to have in school;  however, they take the mind off of school work and take away from hanging with one’s friends. The bottom line is that relationships are good for the person in the relationship, but bad for their friends. There have been numerous times where friends cannot hang out because they feel obligated to be with their girlfriend or boyfriend.
Relationships also cause drama in the teenager’s life, but if the two really like each other, the relationship is worth it. However, there are the two teenagers who think they are soul mates, like the modern version of Romeo and Juliet. It is very stupid that their mind set is on how they were meant for each other. It is very rare that a high school relationship will last through college and even after that. Teenagers always feel that there is a such thing as true love, which is not necessarily true. Being in true love is impossible, and people always have differences whether they are “soul mates” or not.
True love does not exist in my world, and love at first sight does not either. Love at first sight does not seem logical at all. Seeing someone for the first time and liking them does not seem like it is an intimate relationship. But in order to have love at first sight, people have to judge other people on their looks. Teenagers cannot look at another person and say, “Oh that girl looks like a nice person.” The first impression is always on looks; nobody can meet someone for the first time and automatically know if they are a good person. In a poll of six classes, 78.8 percent of students say that they base their liking on personality. This is disagreeable, people do not judge each other on personality, and high school dating is strictly on looks.
Not only is true love incapable for students but so is love at first sight. How can teenagers know what true love is if they have only had one or two serious relationships? Sure students might think they are in love, but in reality they are in a silly relationship that will only last until they graduate. Then they will experience the life of a college party, and after that, they will regret promising their soul mate that they were not going to do anything.
Then there is always the case of that one couple in which the boy is totally controlled by his girlfriend. This is very frustrating when a fellow friend is being bossed around by his girlfriend. A guy like Chris Brown gives men a bad name; he is stupid for hitting a woman. But what about the women who beat the men? Not physically but verbally, men also get abused everyday by their women.
